It was a French atmospheric black metal project that drew as much from the genre’s ’90s lineage as from post-hardcore. After years of silence, Heir returned in 2024 to die with elegance. Terra Triumphans Jubila, recorded between 2021 and 2024, is released on Frozen Records as a swan song.

The album blends telluric darkness with post-hardcore intensity in one final, grand, twilight fresco. Perhaps the band died too early, right on the brink of maturity. But at least it departs without regret and with panache, a musical funeral vigil that closes the chapter for good.
