Formed in 2017, Subterraen released their debut album, “Rotten Human Kingdom” via Transcending Obscurity Records in 2020. Massive and oppressive, this debut album depicts the state of the modern world through themes such as animal rights, the destruction of natural resources, and the race for profit.

For their second album “In The Aftermath of Blight”, Subterraen moves towards more complex and melodic arrangements, while maintaining the sonic ferocity of their debut and continuing their exploration of the human condition. Oriented towards atmospheric post-sludge, this album is released in collaboration with Frozen Records in April 2024. “In the Aftermath of Blight” takes a cynical look at the human after a personal tragedy or a natural disaster through numerous biblical and literary references, all illustrated by artwork by Dehn Sora and highlighted by Cyrille Gachet on mixing (Fange, Year Of No Light, Chaos Echoes) and Justin Weis on mastering (Pallbearer, Bell Witch, Amenra).
