Lisieux

Lisieux

Toulouse, 2014. Lisieux emerges somewhere between neofolk and proto-goth, fed by liturgical and medieval imaginaries. The EP I and the album Psalms Of Dereliction (reissued by Frozen Records) lay the foundations: Cindy's voice as the guiding thread, weaving a dense web between religious chants, dream pop and neo-medieval aesthetics.

With Abide!, the project evolves. After a more grandiose period, drone and synthetic, Lisieux returns to a feudal folk steeped in 70's influences. The project abandons ornaments to rediscover the essential. Contemplative and haunting, drawing from the ethereal realms of Dead Can Dance, Death In June, Cocteau Twins. In 2025, the live formula becomes more minimalist, more direct: dark folk that smells of cold incense and ancient stones.
